8 Years Ago Today

8 years ago tonight I met Klint.  Read about our meeting story here.
And this is what we looked like 8 years ago : )
(My photo was actually taken on that same night just hours we met.  Klint's photo was taken during that summer.)
So glad we met and that we've had these wonderful memories.  Love you my babe.
P.S. And Happy Birthday to Larry, my wonderful step-father, love you too.

Seeing People Through God's Eyes

I read the sweetest post on the nieniedialogues blog (if you've never heard of it - the blog is about a Utah Mormon mom who was in an airplane accident and has burns on most of her body).  The post was about how Stephanie's son doesn't see her burns or scars and just sees his mom.  That really touched me. (See entire original post here)

"He is proud of us- he is proud of me.
I would expect there to be some embarrassment from him. But no.

Last week, Nicholas and I walked to his school to drop off his forgotten lunch.
He was on the playground for recess.
I spotted him and waved and he immediately ran over to me with friends in tow.
One friend came up with him, looked away and then ran away.
I acted like it was no big deal and Ollie (who always stands up for me)
asked him why he was leaving.

"She is scary looking, and I am scared of her" his friend announced.
Oliver said:
"This is my Mom and you are weird, she is just pregnant!!"
Nothing about scars, a fire, or burns.
Just a big belly was all that seemed odd about
the way I looked to my seven year old son.

To Ollie, I am just a Mom- but not just, I am HIS Mom and he loves me.
In fact, he doesn't even see what others do, and for that I am so grateful."

I need to be more like that.

"...for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart."

Visiting my friends the Giraffes

I go to the zoo for one reason.... the giraffes!  On Memorial Day Klint asked me if I wanted to go to the zoo (not necessarily because he wanted to go, but because he knows how much I would enjoy seeing the giraffes!)  We realized it had been 5 years since we last went...well, it was exactly the same ha!  Klint let me just hang out with the giraffes for well over an hour.  I sure do love those creatures.  Giraffes are the most beautiful animals there is something about them.  I had a lovely time just staring at them .

Oh yeah, we saw other animals too!  ; )
This freaks me out a bit

Giant turtle with baby turtle
Look at that funny old face!

Ha ha ha!  I made Klint get in the turtle shell  - he has a picture of his nieces in this from years ago.
In 5 more years maybe we'll actually have a kids to bring back to the zoo!

Neon Trees Concert

Oh, and I guess I never posted about the Neon Trees concert a few weeks back.  Elaine got us all "VIP" passes we felt pretty cool (as portrayed by our faces!) we got to go back to their dressing room and hang out before the concert.  It was a fun show we like their new album - you can listen to it  here.  It was fun to see Elaine rocking out on the drums with her 7 months pregnant belly!  Thanks again Elaine!  Oh BTW Neon Trees headlinedthis sell-out show! The last Neon Trees show we went to was almost 2 years ago see post here I didn't realize it had been so long.  We are so happy for Elaine on their huge success (not surprised though)!

The Elastian Baby Shower!

Our friends, Elaine & Sebastian, are having a baby!!!  Irene & I threw them a "couples" baby shower and it was so much fun just visiting and eating yummy food.  Congrats you two can't wait to see the little "Elastian" child.
They got some fun custom-made clothing from Carlyn, Alison & Irene
Here are some pictures we showed at the shower of what their baby *might* look like!  ha ha ; )
Reaction to their future children!
Thanks Ireney for all your hard work and delicious food everything was great!

"The California" by Sebastian & Klint summer 2005
They went to Beto's and arranged this burrito so,
took the photo, then blew it up, framed it, and tassled it!
It now (thankfully) resides with Sebastian & not us!
Pre-shower: we met at the Hawaiian Shaved Ice shack (me & Klint's first) yum yum!

Post-shower: walked along the Provo River Trail
And guess who went to bed at 10:00pm that night and woke up at 10:30am?!!  Klint and I were both strangely exhausted we must have needed the sleep! : )

P.S.  We missed you Bryce, Beth, Scott & Tasia!
